Common Questions about Estimates

The estimate is good for 30 days from the date it was given.

Our team will walk around the perimeter of your home and look for a good access point for materials, dump trailer, etc. We'll measure the roof and take notes of how many pipes, vents, and chimneys there are. We'll take photos of any shingles that are damaged and signs of a leaky roof. If the roof is simple, we can give an in person estimate. If the roof is more complex, we'll send you an estimate by email.

The estimate provided to you will be tailored specifically to your house and your needs but as a standard they will include: New shingles, new roof flashing, an ice and water shield protection for all roof penetration zones, and valleys on the roof. Add ons can be added to the estimate on approval of both parties.

It's recommended but not a necessity.

Common Questions about Roof Repair

If you see signs of your roof leaking, we suggest seeking out professional guidance. Our team will be able to determine whether the leak needs immediate attention and what kind of repairs should be done.

If you notice a leak or a missing shingle, we strongly recommend seeking professional help. Our estimators are trained to quickly and efficiently determine the best possible solution for your situation.

Common Questions about Roof Replacement

If you notice any of these signs, your roof needs an inspection:
- A leaking ceiling
- Soggy, damp, or missing shingles
- Leakage in the attic
- A leaking chimney

The cost of the repair or replacement depends on the type bid requested. An all-inclusive bid will include all labor, materials, and disposal.

All re-roofing options will be on the estimate that is given.

The lifespan of a roof greatly depends on the type of roof and materials used. On average, a roof should last 20 years.

It depends on the type of roof you choose. An energy efficient roof will provide a significant reduction in energy consumption. It will reflect heat in the summer and conserve heat in the winter.

Common Questions about Maintenance

To extend the life of your roof, you should schedule regular inspections and maintenance. A roof can easily become damaged and degraded by neglect.

We strongly advise you to not pressure wash a shingle roof. The high pressure can loosen the shingles and wash off the granules.

Call a roof maintenance company.

As soon as a new roof is installed, the sun and weather start to wear it down. A roof can be damaged by ultraviolet radiation (UV Rays), heat, and maintenance neglect.

Common Questions about Contractors

Yes, Oregon law requires contractors to carry general liability insurance. When a contractor is licensed, it means he/she has agreed to comply with the regulations of the government-issued building permit.

Before you hire any professional, it’s important to ask for referrals. Client reviews can give you an idea of the contractor’s working style and character.

Yes, we recommend asking for before and after photos of previous projects. This can help you identify the quality of the contractor’s work.

Manufacturers provide certifications to contractors when they pass their training programs. This proves that the contractor is knowledgeable about the processes and guidelines set by the manufacturer.

When hiring a contractor, you should get multiple estimates but keep in mind that quality comes at a price. Instead of examining the price tag, you should focus on the contractor’s expertise, workmanship, and character.

Common Questions about Painting

We mainly use Sherwin Williams because it's easy to find and most stores have it available. If the you wish to use a different type of paint, we're more than happy to use what you want.

Normally two coats of paint are included with the quote. There is an extra fee for any additional coat of paint.

We recommend contacting the representatives of the company you buy the paint from. Since we often use Sherwin Williams, many of our clients will speak with a Sherwin Williams rep for expert advice.

If you don't like the color your house is painted, we can definitely change it for you. There will be an additional cost for a new coat of paint.

We try to make the painting process as smooth as possible with minimal interruption to your home and family. Any project under 3,000 square feet should take 2 to 4 days.
